King of Pakistani Bridal

Hassan Shehryar Yasin aka HSY has taken the fashion scene in Pakistan by storm. He is practically unreachable and his dress prices range from anywhere from five hundred dollars for a shirt to ten thousand dollars for a wedding dress. In Pakistani standards (and even here) its unaffordable.

Then why has he done so well for himself? Who buys these ridiculously expensive dresses and why are his designs so expensive that one wonders if they are buying a dress or a car? Well lets take a look at some of his work and then you be the judge.

This lengha choli wedding dress is immaculate. HSY's detailing is phenomenal. One could spend days just studying his work and it is said that a dress like this would take up to 6 months to make.

When I want to describe this outfit I can't because even I can't figure out what combination of fabric he uses where and what kind of work is done to create this menagerie of exotic and intricate designs.

What I do know is that the skirt is double layered lengha. The top is made of french chiffon with heavy zardosi work and the inner layer is jamawar (embossed gold patterns on satin).
What HSY's outfits have is uniqueness. Most of the time you can look at a outfit and say who the designer is. But with HSY it's impossible to tell because each one is unique.

This dress is so different from the first yet still as beautiful. Here HSY goes more conservative and traditional. This is the type of dress most Pakistani brides would actually wear. The dominant theme of this dress is village and vintage which is represented through the mirror work known as shisha work.

HSY is famous for his saris. He has brought Pakistani saris in the same league as Indian saris if not farther. Before, Indian sari designs were the way to go. In fact, Pakistani designers were incapable of replicating the Indian sari. The way they were stitched, the designs, the fall...there was no comparison.

Well HSY showed then wrong and this sari is living proof why.

HSY challenged this notion and created saris that have Indian designers wondering what they are missing!

HSY has teamed up with Bareeze and started a new line call HSY B. Check out this article.
