The Kundani Masterpiece by Tarun Tahiliani

Tahiliani is artistic, creative, original and innovative. He is not your typical indian designer. Unlike Manish, Tarun is greatly influenced with western fashions. His designs have attracted the western market and he is considered as one of the top international designers of today. Although Tarun does design indian clothes, he appeals to a more modern and artistic audience.

The designs that I have showcased are influenced by a blend of Mughal and Rajasthani backdrop. He uses a lot of kundan work (glass work) as displayed with the blue gharara (double legged skirt) which is characteristic of Rajasthani designs. Tarun also likes chunari ( fabric that is dyed or printed with small circle motifs) as shown in the blue gharara and mustard sari worn by Shilpa Shetty.

I have posted two of Tahiliani's recent fashion shows

After the tremendous success of his first solo show "The Rubaiyat" in September 1994 at the Dorchester in London, Tarun Tahiliani has continued to present exclusive, well attended and highly publicized shows in major cities all over the world.

Style, craftsmanship, quality and refinement are the defining symbols of Tarun`s garments. His collections attempt to rejuvenate ideas towards a renewal for contemporary Indian life.

A wide spectrum of silhouettes and styles complement his trademark drapes and subtlety. Today, Tarun, the master of drape, is one of the most sought after and successful fashion designers in the country whose clients cover a domestic and international arena.
